Dear Friends,
I’m writing to share something very close to my heart. As many of you know, pancreatic cancer has touched my life in profound ways. Two incredible men who were like family to me, Michael Landon and Patrick Swayze, both lost their battles with this devastating disease. Their passing left a lasting impact on me, and it deepened my commitment to raising awareness and supporting the fight against pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and deadliest forms of cancer, with a five-year survival rate of just 13%. It’s a disease that often goes undetected until it’s too late, which is why raising awareness and supporting research is so crucial.
To honor the memories of Michael and Patrick, and to support those who are battling this disease, I’m proud to announce Modern Prairie’s partnership with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). Together, we’ve curated a special collection of products, each designed with love and purpose. This collection includes women’s and children’s bonnets, a set of three pocket squares, our signature pie carrier, a cozy throw, and a versatile tote bag—all featuring a beautiful purple print, the color representing pancreatic cancer awareness.
By purchasing these items, you’re not only adding something special to your home or wardrobe, but you’re also contributing to a cause that desperately needs our attention. A portion of the proceeds* from each sale will go directly to PanCAN, supporting their vital work in research, patient services, and advocacy.
Thank you for joining me in this important fight. Together, we can make a difference, honor those we’ve lost, and bring hope to those who continue to battle this terrible disease.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Melissa Gilbert
*PanCAN will receive the following amounts from the sale of each item: Scalloped Throw $25, Roll-up Sewing Kit $10, Tote Bag $9, Bonnet $8, Pie Carrier $6, Pocket Squares $5.

I think what you’re doing is wonderful. I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer.
My sister had her pancreas removed five years ago as she had bouts of pancreatitis and it was growing. Doctor’s removed it to prevent pancreatic cancer. She’s been doing okay since then.
Thank you, Melissa!! I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer just 10 weeks after her diagnosis and 2 months before my wedding. We used to watch Little House on the Prairie together. We were devastated when Michael passed. We were also fans of Patrick and it was so hard to see him taken as well by this horrible disease.
I lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer in 2018. Thank you for doing this. I am going to go place an order now.💜
My dad died from pancreatic cancer in 2008 and my uncle in 2019. These men meant so much to me. Thank you for supporting this research.
