Celebrating the Strength of Women—Together 💜

Happy International Women's Day

International Women’s Day began in 1911 as a call for equality, and today, we honor not just the progress made but the everyday strength, kindness, and wisdom of women everywhere.

At Modern Prairie, we are endlessly inspired by the grace, support, and friendships blossoming in this beautiful community. You remind us daily that when women lift each other up, incredible things happen.

Today, we invite you to celebrate with us—drop a tribute in the comments to the woman who has shaped your life the most. A mother, a sister, a mentor, a friend—who inspires you every day?

We can't wait to read each and every tribute, and we'll be celebrating these wonderful women with you!

Let’s fill this space with love and gratitude. 💜✨

My mother was my inspiration! She passed away almost 16 years ago, but her love and her faith were deeply ingrained in me, and will always remain with me! Melissa, you also inspire me in the way that you gave the role of Laura your whole heart! You inspire me also with your steadfast commitment to chasing your dreams for Modern Prairie! Thank you for all you do for women that are in our age bracket!

My mother – she died when I was 7 years old but her extraordinary view of life as magical and beautiful has stayed with me – I’m 76 years old now and miss her as much as I did when I was seven.

I must thank the LORD for my two beautiful “baby sisters” 💗 We three are always there for each other, cheering each other in, encouraging one another, and even graciously pointing out ways in which we need to grow and change. Our love is unconditional! I just truly thank God for them: Tammi and Danielle. 💕 Also, my precious baby girl, Natalie, with whom I’ve grown close as she’s grown up. I love having her on my life.

When you ask which woman influenced me the most, I think of my writing tutor, Jane Gassner. In my book I credit her with being my Annie Sullivan. She held my hand patiently yet was tough with me through some of the roughest years of my life. I hated her on some days, and on other I couldn’t live without her. Although she is no longer with us in this world, her spirit will forever live in my heart.

I have several Women in my life that inspired/inspire me. My Mom who has recently passed made me who I am today.. A cousin who is such a strong woman has made me look at myself and realize I am stronger than I realize. People like you Melissa who show women that we matter, who show that we are all the same no matter what we do for a living, who show women that we are never too old to change and succeed. Thank you for your kindness , somewhere out there our kindness to others may be just what some women need…..
